Characterisation: Story Excerpt


Feng Tian Wei contributed significantly to Singapore, with her teammates, represented Singapore for the first time in the Olympic Games and in the group competition, helped Singapore to defeat the South Korea by 3-2. She defeated the two South Koreans, Dang Ye-Seo and Park Mi-Young, both of whom played a very defensive style and it needed extremely great perseverance and skills. All the balls played must be very accurate and precise, and Feng Tian Wei must be able to anti-spin the balls played by the South Koreans, or else Feng Tian Wei might lose out to them because the South Koreans could counter spin balls and even smashes very well and return spin balls.
The match begin and she fought very well, showing her strength, agility and control of the table tennis ball. At first she tackled the South Korean players very carefully, only smashing the ball at the right time. Soon, she was in the lead. Every point gained required a lot of perseverance and the process was extremely slow and a very tedious process. However, at the later part of the game, she was sweating profusely and began to lose concentration. Nevertheless, she won at the end of the game, storing enough concentration to fight each game.
This showed that Feng Tian Wei is a very careful and skillful player, with great perseverance and concentration.
